Fake video accusing police of theft: Web channel scribe booked by Hyderabad cops
Mohd.Abdul Bari, working for Watan Ki Pukar Media News, a YouTube channel, uploaded a false video in Hindi alleging that two police constables were threatening a pushcart vendor and grabbing mangoes without paying money.
Hyderabad: The Bowenpally police have booked a case against a web news channel reporter for uploading a video accusing police personnel of ‘robbing’ from a fruit seller and other poor vendors. Facts were twisted in the audio and post accompanying the video, making it to appear the police were taking mangoes from a fruit vendor without paying, while the police official had actually paid for the purchase.
Police said the scribe Mohd.Abdul Bari, working for Watan Ki Pukar Media News, a YouTube channel, had on Thursday uploaded a false video in Hindi alleging that two police constables were threatening a pushcart vendor and grabbing mangoes without paying money.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by P.Ugandhar, Sub-inspector (Bowenpally) stating that the video, which had twisted facts, was provocative and disturbing peace and tranquillity in the society.
“In this pandemic situation, police officers are performing their legitimate duties. The suspect, without any evidence, has posted a false video in the YouTube channel which impacts the image of the police department,” said K.Ravi Kumar, Inspector (Bowenpally).
“We enquired into the incident and it was known that the vendor was not threatened and that the alleged cop had paid for the mangoes,” he said, adding that a case was booked and investigation taken up.
