Hyderabad: Families of two youngsters who were declared brain dead have donated organs of the deceased to nine needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan initiative.

On August 2, Derangula Jagan (22), who was travelling on his two-wheeler, was hit by another two-wheeler at Pedda Amberpet. He was shifted to a private hospital, and with his condition not improving, the doctors declared him brain dead on August 4. Jagan’s mother, D Yadamma, gave consent to donate his kidneys, liver and corneas.

Sai Krishna (27), a daily labourer from Khammam, was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad after he fell from his two-wheeler and received serious injuries. As his condition did not improve, doctors declared him brain dead on August 4, and his father, Payam Yarraiah, gave consent, following which four organs were donated.
