Family, Left activists bid tearful adieu to former Maoist leader Radhakka in Adilabad
Final rites of former Maoist leader Kursenga Motibai alias Radhakka were performed at Pippaldhari village in Adilabad on Tuesday. Radhakka, 55, died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at RIMS-Adilabad. Family members, locals and Left activists paid tributes.
Adilabad: Final rites of former Maoist leader Kursenga Motibai alias Radhakka, wife of the outfit’s central committee member Pulluri Prasad Rao or Chandranna, were performed at Pippaldhari village in Adilabad Rural mandal on Tuesday.
Radhakka, 55, suffered a cardiac arrest and died while undergoing treatment at RIMS-Adilabad on Monday evening. She had joined the party after being attracted to its ideologies in 1984. She was the first woman leader from a tribal community. She had served in different positions. She rose through the ranks to become a State committee member. She led the Mangi squad and later worked for the party in Chattisgarh state in 1998.
Family members, locals, artists and activists of Left parties paid floral tributes to the leader. They sang songs hailing Radhakka. They opined that Radhakka played a vital role in strengthening the movement. They observed that she had fought for the rights of tribal people. They remarked that her contributions would be remembered forever.
Radhakka was caught by police while on her way to a hospital in Khammam in 2017. She was in jail for four years. She was released after cases booked against her were struck off by courts. She, along with her husband, was living in Ramagundam after Chandranna surrendered himself before police in November 2025. She visited her parents at Pippaldhari three days back.
