Khammam: Celebrations erupted in the erstwhile Khammam district following the Centre’s decision to repeal the farm laws. Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar hailed the decision as a victory for farmers across the country. “The heat created by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao by launching a movement against the farm laws touched the BJP government at the Centre,” he said. The TRS government will always stand by the farmers and fight for their rights and welfare. Ajay Kumar, in a statement, congratulated farmers who had fought tirelessly against the Central government.

TRS Lok Sabha leader Nama Nageswara Rao noted that the Centre had bowed down to the farmers. “The TRS MPs have opposed the laws in the Parliament following the directions of Chief Minister and party working president KT Rama Rao, but the BJP government failed to pay heed. The Centre feared that the farmers’ agitations against the farm laws might impact the results of the elections scheduled to be held next year in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. That’s why the Centre repealed farm laws,” he said. Meanwhile, the leaders of TRS, CPI, CPM, CPI (ML) New Democracy have organised celebrations, taking out victory rallies, bursting crackers and sharing sweets in Khammam city and other parts of the district.

ZP chairman L Kamal Raju, SUDA chairman B Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja, senior TRS leader Gundala Krishna and others joined the celebrations at the TRS district office. CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao, party district secretary P Prasad and others joined celebrations at the party district office.
