Farmer accuses cop of harassment, attempts suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A farmer attempted to die by suicide alleging harassment from Shamirpet Inspector Santosh in front of Pragathi Bhavan here on Monday.
The farmer, Bikshapathi, alleged that the Inspector was pressurising him to hand over an agriculture land to land-grabbers in Kothur village of Shamirpet.
Bikshapathi, along with his wife Buchamma, came to Pragathi Bhavan where he doused himself with kerosene and tried to immolate himself. Security personnel who saw this foiled his attempt.
The couple was taken into custody and shifted to a police station, where the allegations levelled by Bikshapathi are being verified.
