Mahabubnagar: A farmer collapsed after suffering seizures while standing in the queue for urea at the old bus stand in Mahabubnagar town on Saturday morning.

Former Minister V Srinivas Goud, who was in the area to meet farmers, rushed the man to hospital in an ambulance. However, his identity and condition were not immediately known. Farmers at the spot said he had been waiting since early morning, like many others, for urea supplies.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Srinivas Goud said the incident exposed the Congress government’s failure in ensuring adequate stocks of urea for farmers. “Instead of accepting responsibility, a Minister is accusing BRS leaders of creating unrest by spreading rumours of an artificial shortage. They even allege that BRS is making non-farmers stand in queues. This is highly condemnable,” he said.

The former Minister also facilitated interactions between farmers and the media. One farmer, Kurumaiah, said, “Since there is no information on when urea will be supplied, I got a blanket and have been sleeping here for the last three days.”

A woman farmer also shared a similar grievance in a video now circulating on social media. Another farmer said it had been 20 days since he sowed seeds in his fields but there was still no urea available for application.
