Medak: Delay in paddy procurement led to the death of another farmer, Venkatapuram Shankaraiah, who suffered a fatal heart attack at Chinna Ghanpur procurement centre in Kulcharam mandal on Friday.
The 58-year-old farmer, who slept at his paddy heap on Thursday night, was found dead on Friday morning by his family members. Narsapur MLA Vakiti Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, who visited the bereaved family, alleged that the farmer died due to inordinate delay in purchasing the paddy.
The MLA said that the government had failed to purchase even half of the paddy brought to procurement centres which left the farmers worried. She demanded the government to speed up procurement operations.
