Siddipet: The family members of P Chandram (35), a farmer who died of a heart attack, staged a protest at the residence of Kathula Bhaskar Reddy in Pothareddipally village of Cheriyal mandal on Thursday, accusing him of cheating.
The relatives alleged that Chandram had borrowed money from Bhaskar Reddy by registering a piece of his land in Bhaskar Reddy’s name on the assurance that it would be returned after repayment. However, they claimed that even after Chandram cleared the debt, Bhaskar Reddy refused to transfer the land back. Distressed over the matter, Chandram collapsed and died of a heart attack on Thursday. Enraged family members, joined by villagers, carried his body to Bhaskar Reddy’s house and staged a protest demanding justice and action against him.
The protest created tension in the village, prompting Cheriyal police to rush to the spot. They tried to bring the situation under control by holding discussions with Chandram’s family.
