Farmers kneel before officials demanding procurement of soybean in Adilabad

Farmers in Adilabad staged a protest by kneeling down before officials saying that they were being harassed to procure soybean produced in Bela mandal . The farmers said authorities have forced them to return with their crop.

Adilabad: Farmers staged a protest by kneeling down before officials alleging that they were being harassed them citing norms to procure soybean produce in Bela mandal centre on Monday.

The agitating farmers said they were forced to return with the beans when National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) refused to procure the crop at a warehouse. They said the Telangana marketing federation department finally purchased the beans when they protested a fortnight back, but officials of NAFED rejected the beans citing norms.

They were now left with no option, but to rely on private traders. They wanted the government to take steps to buy the oil seeds without imposing restrictions.
