Farmers of Jhansi Lingapur, Thongigandla block traffic on Akkanpet-Chinna Shankarampet over delay in procurement of paddy in Medak district on Wednesday.
Medak: The farmers of Jhansi Lingapur and Thongigandla villages staged a protest at the procurement centre demanding the immediate lifting of paddy from procurement centres.
The farmers blocked the Akannapet-Chinna Shankarampet road and raised slogans against the State government on Wednesday. They said they were waiting at the procurement centres for a month with their produce. The farmers said that the officials could procure just two lorries of paddy from Jhansi Lingapur. They have demanded that the government immediately start the procurement.
The farmers also complained that local MLA Mynampally Rohit Rao had failed to respond to the farmers’ issues. The police convinced the farmers to withdraw the protest to allow the traffic to resume on the road. However, the farmers warned that they would intensify the protests if they failed to respond by Thursday.
