Medak: Protesting against unscheduled power cuts, farmers from the Ramayampet area staged a protest on the main road of Ramayampet town near the sub-station on Saturday.
The farmers said they were hardly getting four hours of power supply, even though the Congress government claimed that it was supplying 12-hour power to the agriculture sector. They lamented that their crops had started withering due to the lack of power supply.
The farmers urged the government to ensure at least 12 hours of power supply to the farming sector, saying they would otherwise be unable to save their crops.
The farmers relented after the police persuaded them to withdraw the protest, assuring them that the issue would be brought to the notice of Transco officials.
