Nalgonda: Farmers staged a protest in Addagudur town in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Friday over insufficient power supply and demanded that the government declare the mandal drought-hit.
The BRS extended its support to the farmers. The party’s Addagudur mandal unit submitted a representation to Tahsildar Seshagiri Rao, urging the government to declare Addagudur mandal drought-hit.
BRS leaders expressed concern over the plight of farmers this season. They criticised the State government, alleging that crops were withering due to a lack of irrigation water and irregular power supply.
The leaders said water had previously been supplied to the Tungaturthi constituency through the Kaleshwaram project, but no such provision had been made this year. They said crops were at a critical stage and that uninterrupted power supply could help save them. However, they alleged that the government was failing to come to the farmers’ rescue.
The farmers alleged that officials and the government were not responding to requests to replace burnt-out transformers. They said the agricultural sector was facing a crisis due to shortages of irrigation water and electricity.
The BRS leaders demanded that the government immediately address farmers’ concerns and ensure uninterrupted power supply for agriculture to prevent crops from withering.
