Nizamabad: Farmers staged a protest on the road at Tuljapur village over the government’s failure in procuring the paddy stocks here on Saturday.
Raising slogans against the government, the farmers squatted on the road. There was an inordinate delay in paddy procurement by the officials and also in transportation of stocks to the rice mills, the farmers charged.
They demanded that officials should exert pressure on the rice mills’ management to unload the stocks and expedite the procurement process. Local police intervened and tried to convince the farmers, but they did not relent and continued their protest. They said the protests would continue till their stocks were procured by the rice mills.
