Jagital: The Farmers Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Friday organised a demonstration here demanding that the state government implement its electoral promises made to the farming community.
As part of ‘Chalo Collectorate’ programme, farmers from different mandals of the district gathered in the town in big numbers and took out a rally to the Collectorate office where they staged dharna.
The agitating farmers raised slogans against the government and the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for creating troubles to the farming community.
They alleged that the Congress government, which made many promises before elections, has now forgotten them after coming to power. Before polls, Congress had promised to waive all crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh.
However, it changed its voice after coming to power and has put conditions. As a result, loans of a majority of the farmers have not been waived.
Similar was the case of Rs 500 bonus to paddy. Before elections, Congress leaders promised to give Rs 500 bonus to all varieties of paddy.
However, the government has decided to give bonus only to a fine variety of paddy.
Demanding that the government waive all crop loans without any conditions and bonus to all varieties of paddy, they warned to intensify agitation if the government failed to implement all its poll promises.
