Hyderabad:  A 38-year-old man, who was reportedly depressed after he began having symptoms of Covid-19, died, allegedly by suicide in his house in Choutuppal in Yadadri-Bhongir district here late on Tuesday.

The victim, K.Swamy, is suspected to have been depressed for the last few days after his wife and son tested positive and were under treatment. A few days ago, Swamy also showed symptoms of illness. However, when he took a test, the result came out as negative.

According to the police, Swamy strongly suspected he too had contracted the virus and is suspected to have hanged himself with a towel in his bedroom. The Chotuppal police have booked a case and are investigating.

Sources said that a Covid-19 test done after his death, Swamy had tested positive.
