Hyderabad: Fearing that he may have contracted Covid-19, a retired judge allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in his residence in Miyapur in the wee hours of Friday. He left a suicide note saying he did not want his family to suffer because of him.
According to the police, Ramchandra Reddy (67), had dinner along with his family on Thursday night and went into his bedroom around 10 pm. He is suspected to have hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the room, post-midnight.
His family members found him hanging on Friday morning and tried to shift him to the hospital, but he had died by then. The Miyapur police found a suicide note, in which Reddy purportedly wrote that he was feeling unwell for quite some days and that he suspected he was infected with Covid-19.
“He did not want his family to suffer because of him and took the drastic step,” said an official. The Miyapur police have booked a case and are investigating.
