Fed up with studies, exam stress 18-year-old girl dies by suicide in Mancherial

Mancherial: An 18-year-old student died, allegedly by suicide, at Shetpalli village of Jaipur mandal after she reportedly lost interest in studies and also was under pressure to perform well in the exams.
Police said Thungapindi Mounika, an Intermediate first year student and daughter of Rajesham, ended her life by hanging herself in the kitchen. She was studying at a private college in Mancherial town.
Mounika was not interested in studying Intermediate, fearing that she might not clear all subjects. However, her father was urging her to appear for the final examinations slated to be held from Wednesday. She was depressed and under pressure to perform well in the examinations, and was unable to deny her father’s wish, police said.
The teenager had reportedly returned home when she joined the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in 2023. Her mother had died by suicide as she was disheartened by some prolonged ailment in 2011. Her father migrated to CCC of Naspur mandal in search of livelihood. He along with his son and daughter were staying in a rented house.
