‘Felt proud working on Uppena’

Actor Krithi Shetty quickly picked up Telugu for her role as the love interest of Vaishnav Tej’s character in the film, just a few days into shooting for Uppena. Krithi says she used method acting to portray the right emotions on-screen.
“Since I was very new to acting, I had to undergo a couple of workshops before the actual shooting began. The bubbliness of the character was easy to pull off. And Telugu wasn’t a barrier as director Buchibabu garu made me comfortable teaching me the basics.
Other technicians too chipped in. Everything was rewarding in the end. I think my proudest moment came when cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen was left in tears watching one of my scenes on the monitor. That was really uplifting as a performer,” she says.
The Bengaluru-born girl grew up in Mumbai and had plans to pursue medicine. She never gave acting in cinemas a serious thought. “It all started with commercials and then the offer from Buchibabu Sana was something I couldn’t refuse,” says Krithi.
As a former psychology student, she knew nothing about films here except the fandom enjoyed by the mega family. “I knew megastar Chiranjeevi, but I wasn’t aware of other names in the Telugu film industry. When I first met director Sukumar, I was convinced by the way he told me to go about in my debut movie. His confidence made me comfortable on sets,” she adds.
Speaking about her experience working with actor Vijay Sethupathy, she shared, “I got to learn so much from him. Vijay is like a normal person and is very jovial, but when it comes to his performance on-screen, he is top class,” observes Krithi.
