Hyderabad: The door-to-door fever survey and outpatient services at government hospitals for patients with Covid-like symptoms being taken up across Telangana has played a major role in containing the Omicron-driven Covid third wave, State Health Minister T Harish Rao said here on Sunday.

Already over 1 crore households have been covered under door-to-door fever survey across Telangana in the first round. To further strengthen the Covid containment measures, the State Health Department is conducting door-to-door fever surveys and fever OPs for the second time.

In a review meeting held here on Sunday with District Medical and Health Officers (DM&HOs), Additional DM&HOs, Immunisation Officers and PHC doctors, Harish Rao said that multiple rounds of door-to-door and fever surveys will be carried out exclusively in districts where higher Covid positivity rate is prevalent.

“It was Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who had mooted the concept of implementing fever surveys and special OPs during the second and third Covid wave. The unique initiative, which was first launched by Telangana in the country, has yielded positive results in containing the impact of the Covid third wave,” Harish Rao said.

While interacting with the Health authorities, Health Minister stressed on the need to maintain intensity while implementing the Covid vaccination drive. “We have to complete Covid vaccination by administering it to 100 percent of the eligible population in the coming weeks,” he said.
