Few guests on dais, 45 minutes limit: Osmania University instructs colleges for events
In a recent circular issued to campus and constituent colleges, OU Registrar Prof. G Naresh Reddy stated that while institutions were obtaining permission to hold events, they were publishing posters without prior consent or confirmation from the invited guests.
Hyderabad: After a decree banning the protests on the campus, the Osmania University (OU) administration has now issued instructions, requiring prior approval for publishing posters of workshops, conferences or guest lectures.
In a circular recently sent by OU Registrar Prof. G Naresh Reddy to campus and constituent colleges, the university said though the institutions were obtaining permission for holding events they were publishing posters without consent and confirmation of the invited guests.
“This is causing embarrassing situations, as most of the time the authorities are being preoccupied with several meetings in the government,” it said.
The university wanted the colleges to provide details of the invited guests and experts, and advised them not to invite many guests on the dais.
Limiting the inaugural/valedictory programme to 45 minutes, the OU said the focus should be on content rather than the inaugural/valedictory.
Each programme should have at least one page outcome and geo-tagged photos, it said.
Event press notes should be released through the PRO only with a copy sent to the internal quality assurance cell, it added.
The OU administration on March 13 issued a circular banning protests on the campus. This created a huge uproar from the students who criticised the circular stating the administration was trying to suppress their democratic right to protest against issues in the university.
