Khammam: Filling up of nominated posts triggered unrest in the Khammam district Congress as different groups started complaining that injustice was done to them in the appointments. Though some are approaching the TPCC leadership quietly to express their anguish, some have come out openly against the party leadership. It is mainly the followers of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and MP Renuka Chowdary who are creating a ruckus.

Party leader Puvvalla Durga Prasad was appointed as the SUDA chairman, Md Khader Ali as the chairman of the District Library, and Budagam Srinivas and Paruchuri Murali as vice-chairmen of the Perika Cooperative Corporation and Kamma Corporation respectively recently.

It is said that Durga Prasad, who served as the DCC president in the past, and Srinivas are known as followers of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, while Ali is a follower of Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Murali got the posting due to his community lobbying.

MP Renuka Chowdary’s faction is said to be upset with Durga Prasad’s appointment as she wanted one of her followers, Radha Kishore, a former market committee chairman, to be appointed as the SUDA chairman. The faction reportedly registered its dissent with the TPCC leadership regarding the matter.

All India Yadav Mahasabha district leaders Ch Venkata Narasaiah and Chittaru Simhadri Yadav are vocal in criticising the Congress leadership, saying that the Yadav community, which has the largest population among all BCs in the State, failed to get its due share in nominated posts under Congress rule.

They noted that during the previous BRS regime, the community got five MLA seats, one Rajya Sabha MP seat, two MLC seats, one Cabinet Minister post, several corporation chairman posts and a DCCB chairman position for the community.

Simhadri Yadav said senior Congress leader Mekala Malli Babu Yadav, a follower of Minister Srinivas Reddy, worked tirelessly for the Congress party’s victory in the Assembly elections, but he was ignored by the party leadership.

The leaders stated that they would meet three Ministers in Khammam and cautioned that, if necessary, all Yadavs in the district would unite to undertake protest programmes until justice is done to the community in nominated posts.
