Hyderabad: Film critic and former Telugu Bigg Boss contestant Mahesh Kathi breathed his last on Saturday following respiratory failure at Chennai Apollo. He had been undergoing treatment at Chennai following a road accident at Chandrasekharapuram village in Nellore on June 26.
He suffered multiple injuries on face and head when his Innova car collided with a truck.
Mahesh was rushed to hospital and had been undergoing medical care. Andhra Pradesh government had granted monetary help of Rs 17 lakh towards Mahesh’s treatment. However, his health deteriorated as days passed by. Telugu celebrities and people from various other fields took to Twitter to express grief over the tragic news.
An alumnus of the University of Hyderabad, Mahesh began his professional career in the field of development communication. Later, he worked with several NGOs before finding his passion in filmmaking.
He made his directorial debut in 2015 with the movie ‘Pesarattu’ starring actors Nandu and Nikitha Narayan. Later, he continued his journey as a film critic and came to limelight with Telugu Bigg Boss hosted by Jr NTR. Mahesh occasionally used to appear in television news debates and had been vocal on social issues.
