Mancherial: A 44-year-old woman died by suicide, reportedly due to financial distress, at Devapur village in Kasipet mandal on Thursday.
According to the police, Gangadhari Vani, wife of Shankar, consumed pesticide on August 6 after being disheartened by ongoing financial struggles. She was initially shifted to a local hospital and later moved to a hospital in Karimnagar as her condition deteriorated. She died while undergoing treatment on Thursday evening.
Vani worked as a tailor, stitching clothes to support her family. Her husband was reportedly addicted to alcohol, placing a prolonged financial burden on her. The couple has an 11-year-old son.
Following the incident, Vani’s father, Bhumaiah, lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered and investigations are underway.
