Financial distress drives elderly farmer to suicide in Telangana’s Nirmal

Sangha Ramulu, a resident of Surzapur village, hanged himself at his farm after falling into depression over a loan of over Rs 7 lakh that he had taken for his wife’s medical expenses

Nirmal: A 68-year-old farmer died by suicide, allegedly due to mounting debt incurred for the treatment of his wife, at Surzapur village in Khanapur mandal on Saturday.

Police said Sangha Ramulu, a resident of the village, hanged himself at his farm after falling into depression over a loan of approximately Rs 7 lakh that he had taken for his wife’s medical expenses. He was reportedly disheartened following her recent death due to illness.


Based on a complaint lodged by his son, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
