As per the complaint, a few male students provoked some female students of the Centenary Hostel to protest demanding removal of Prof. Kalyani Laxmi, Director of Campus Hostels for Women, for not allowing outsiders to stay in the campus hostel. Allowing outsiders to stay, according to the complainant, was against the varsity rules.

The Chief Security Officer complained that students blocked the road opposite the Arts College and created nuisance by obstructing traffic for the entire night on February 11 until February 12 (9 am). Despite police requests to clear the road, students continued to protest and raised slogans against police.

Further, students violated a university circular that prohibited protests being staged on the campus, he added.
