Hyderabad: A fire broke out in a house at Medibavi in Sitaphalmandi while at least 30 houses reported short circuit issues after a new transformer was installed in the colony on Thursday night. No casualties were reported, but electronic appliances and furniture were gutted in the fire.
Officials said a short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire with locals saying that the incident occurred after a new transformer was installed in the colony and the electric wires were changed by the electricity department in the evening.
The fire first started from the transformer and slowly short circuit was reported from nearly 30 houses. The residents escaped but several electronic appliances and gadgets were damaged. Fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire immediately.
The residents alleged negligence on part of the contractor and electricity department officials.
