Fire at Punjagutta flyover in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A fire broke out on one of the pillars of Punjagutta flyover here on Friday afternoon. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Officials suspect a short circuit in some lights placed near the ornamental plants used to decorate the pillars of flyover, caused the fire. According to information available, around 12.30 pm, the plants in the vertical garden arranged on the pillar caught fire resulting in thick smoke.
Motorists and others passing by the route noticed it and immediately alerted the police and fire department. The traffic police who reached the spot cordoned off the area. A fire engine rushed to the spot and doused the fire within half-an-hour with the help of local residents.
The flyover is an arterial road used by several thousand commuters every day and has many shopping centers in the vicinities.
