Mancherial: A fire broke out in the special ward of the Area hospital of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Bellampalli on Thursday. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire was said to be an electrical short circuit.
Officials of the hospital said the fire broke out in the special ward meant for providing treatment to VIPs. The roof and an air conditioner were gutted in the fire, they said, suspecting faulting wiring to have led to the short circuit.
Firefighters and engines from the local fire station were summoned and the fire was extinguished. Patients, however, requested the officials to address the faulty wiring and to take steps to prevent fire mishaps in other wards.
