Firecracker-laden truck catches fire in Maheshwaram
A firecracker-laden truck caught fire in Maheshwaram, Ranga Reddy district, after reportedly touching high-tension power lines. The driver and helper escaped safely, but the truck was destroyed. Police and fire department personnel are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Hyderabad: A moving truck laden with a huge load of firecrackers caught fire on the road in Maheshwaram of Ranga Reddy district on Saturday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
As per information available, the vehicle coming from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, on reaching Maheshwaram a city suburb in the afternoon, reportedly came into contact with high tension power lines above, triggering a sudden blaze.
The flames rapidly intensified as firecrackers began exploding one after the other, sending loud blasts across the area and creating panic among local residents and commuters passing by the route.
While the driver and helper who noticed the fire escaped to safety, the truck was completely reduced to ashes in the incident. On receiving information, the local police reached the spot and, with the help of fire department personnel, doused the raging flames in a combined firefighting operation.
The case was booked and officials are investigating all possible angles which could have led to the fire.
