First ever virtual council meeting of GHMC begins

Hyderabad: The council meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commenced virtually here on Tuesday.

The Congress party’s D Rajshekar Reddy, who was elected from Lingojiguda ward in the by-election, took oath as corporator. He was accompanied by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy.

Post the oath, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi placed the annual GHMC budget of Rs 5,600 crore for the financial year 2021-22 before the council.

The council is being held virtually for the first time on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
