Startups ranging from sectors like Medtech to fashion to clean energy and EdTech among others had completed their six months cohort with WE Hub and were ready for the next stage.

Rama Rao met and interacted with the graduating startups and assured them of all possible help from the government. “About 47 startups have successfully graduated from WE Hub and have witnessed some very interesting and astounding startup ideas. We not only have Telangana and Hyderabad-based entrepreneurs being part of WE Hub but also some startups from States like Delhi have moved base to Telangana to grow their startup. This is a testimony to the efforts being done at WE Hub.”

“Looking at the range and innovation of startups showcased today, I sincerely hope that the first woman-led unicorn will come from Hyderabad and WE Hub,” he said.

The Minister along with the IT department principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan and WE Hub CEO Deepthi Ravula launched three new programmes for girl students from schools and young women from colleges.

“Today we launched three new programmes for girls and women in the field of science and technology. The first one is a programme for school students to support 100 girl students to learn about data science. First-of-its-kind girl’s conference in Hyderabad will be held, post completion of the cohort. For this, we have partnered with five schools from different States including two from Telangana,” said Ravula.

The second programme is called Greater50 in partnership with Ficci’s to get more women from colleges to get sponsorship wherein they will not get funding but support in advocating about the startups. The third programme is to train the trainers wherein teachers will be taught about entrepreneurship and they will, in turn, select students who have an entrepreneurial bent of mind and the teacher and student together will take the idea to prototype and as of now it is for Telangana schools and may scale it up, Ravula informed.
