Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Thursday underlined the need for revolutionary changes in agriculture to further improve the income of farmers in the State. The Minister, who inspected fish farming taken up by Baddam Ram Reddy, a farmer, in his ten acres fish pond at Ambanabole of Narketpally mandal, said farmers should switch over to modern cultivation methods from traditional methods.
He said fish farming will also help yield good profits compared to cultivation of paddy. He pointed out that plenty of water was available to take up fish ponds as irrigation facility had improved after the formation of Telangana State.
“The State government has been encouraging fish farming by extending financial help through the Fisheries department and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA),” he said, and urged farmers to take up cultivation of pulses which will fetch them more profits with low investment. Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah was also present.
