Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday said that the fish production has increased significantly like paddy in the State due to initiatives of the Telanagana government.
Releasing fishlings into Pedda Cheruvu of Nakrekal in the district, Jagadish Reddy said that the State government has been according equal priority to agriculture and its allied sectors which were receiving about 60 percent of the share in the budget since 2014 after the State formation. He reminded that the revival of irrigation tanks aged back to the Kakatiya dynasty and their revival under Mission Kakatiya boosted the fish farming in the State. The steps taken up by the State government have revived traditional occupations, which have improved the income of the rural people. The initiatives taken up by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to turn the State as Bangaru Telangana have strengthened the rural economy, he added.
The Minister said that over 6 crore fishlings would be released into irrigation tanks in the erstwhile Nalgonda district this year. Stating that Telangana stood on top in welfare and development in the country in a short span of seven years, he said that the welfare schemes being implemented by the State government, have become role models for the entire country. In the last seven years, the State has witnessed more development than that was witnessed in the previous 70 years, he maintained.
Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah reminded that Pedda Cheruvu was restored to its full tank level and was being developed as a mini-tank bund. About One lakh fishlings will be released into Pedda Cheruvu, which is spread across 67.5 hectares, he added.
