Fisherman murdered by cousins suspecting sorcery; four suspects booked in Mancherial
A 30-year-old fisherman was allegedly murdered in Mancherial district after being suspected of practising sorcery. Police booked four relatives in the case. The victim’s body was found in a canal near the Godavari river with head injuries.
Mancherial: Four persons were on Thursday booked on charges of murdering a 30-year-old fisherman suspecting that he was practicing sorcery at Bejjala village on Tuesday night. The incident came to light on Wednesday evening.
Police said that a murder case was registered against four relatives of Rajam. He was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a canal near Godavari river on village outskirts. He was reportedly bludgeoned to death.
The accused persons reportedly nursed a grudge against Rajam who performs prayers at a temple in the village apart from fishing for a livelihood. Rajam, who went to catch fish in the river, did not return till late evening on Tuesday. His family members found the body in the canal with blood stains and injuries on head the next day. They demanded action against the perpetrators.
