Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Five persons were arrested for allegedly exhuming bones of a body for practising sorcery and to hunt treasure in Koutala mandal centre on Thursday.
Koutala Inspector M Ramesh said Anugurthi Ramesh, Athram Shankar, Gedem Bapui, all from Bejjur mandal, Kasarapu Parameshwar and Golle Raju, both belonging to Karimnagar district were apprehended while moving suspiciously at Kushnepalli village in Bejjur mandal. On being questioned, the five confessed to committing the crime to make a fast buck. They admitted to exhuming five bones of a body buried at Yetiguda village on January 17. They revealed that they were planning to use the bones to perform sorcery and to hunt treasure.
On January 29, Yernagi Kalabai from Yetiguda lodged a complaint with Bejjur police stating that some unknown persons unearthed the bones of the body of her husband Chinnana, who died of illness, shocking her and her family members. A case was registered. Investigations were taken up. Accordingly, the five were taken into custody
