Five arrested for killing wild boar in Khammam

Khammam: Forest officials caught a five-member gang that allegedly hunted a wild boar on Peddacheruvu hillock at Tallapenta village of Penuballi mandal in the district on Wednesday.
Based on a tip-off, forest field staff conducted search operations and caught the accused while they were allegedly transporting the hunted animal. They also seized wild boar meat, hunting equipment, two motorbikes and one mobile phone.
A case was registered against the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act and they were sent to judicial remand. Hunting in forests is against the law and strict action will be taken against such illegal activities, officials warned.
