Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man who was set to get married in just five days died by suicide, reportedly due to financial stress and mental distress linked to wedding arrangements at his house in Gachibowli late on Tuesday.

According to the police, M Venkata Krishna Srisai, a resident of My Home Mangala Apartments in Kondapur, was running a local animation company. He had gotten engaged to a young woman in Visakhapatnam on February 22, and their wedding was scheduled for April 12.

The family had planned a destination wedding, for which he had agreed to pay Rs 17 lakh to event organizers. He had already paid Rs 10 lakh.

On Tuesday evening, Srisai sent a text message to his brother Sai, who lives in Kothaguda, stating that he was under severe mental stress. Alarmed by the message, his brother rushed to his apartment. When repeated calls went unanswered, he broke open the door and found Srisai lying in a pool of blood.

He was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police suspect that Srisai first consumed painkiller tablets and later slit his throat with a knife. They suspect that mounting pressure from wedding arrangements and financial difficulties may have driven him to take the extreme step.
Case is under investigation.
