Five family members file nominations from same gram panchayat in Adilabad
Five members of one family filed nominations from Hirapur gram panchayat in Indervelli, causing confusion among villagers. Former sarpanch Lakshmibai, her daughter-in-law and three sons remain in the fray. In a separate case, three siblings filed nominations in Emayikunta.
Adilabad: In an unusual situation, five members of the same family are contesting from Hirapur gram panchayat in Indervelli mandal.
Thodasam Lakshmibai, a former sarpanch of the village, has filed her nomination once again and was expected to have an easy run considering her earlier service. However, her daughter-in-law Maheshwari also entered the race in the gram panchayat reserved for SCs. Lakshmibai expressed confidence that she could secure victory against the newcomer.
Adding to the surprise, Lakshmibai’s three sons also filed their nominations, leading to speculation of internal disputes within the family. Villagers urged them to decide among themselves and allow only one to remain in the fray, but all five have chosen to continue, leaving voters confused.
In another development, three siblings, Kubher Singh, Anar Singh and Ram Lakhan Singh, filed nominations from Emayikunta gram panchayat, reserved for the SC General category.
