Adilabad: Five persons belonging to a family, including a minor boy, were arrested on charges of burglaries in popular temples including the ancient Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy Devasthanam-Jainath, here on Monday. A gram of gold, cash Rs 1,000 and two mobile phones were seized from them.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that Sidam Maru, his wife Sidam Jadu Bai from Junnapani village, their son Kodapa Surender and daughter-in-law Kodapa Anjali of Douna village in Sathnala mandal were apprehended while moving suspiciously during a vehicle check conducted by Jainath police at Deepayiguda crossroads.
During interrogation, Maru confessed to committing the crimes to make quick money by forming a gang. He admitted to targeting famous temples located in different parts of the district. He disclosed that they attempted to steal hundials from Jainath temple on the night of January 30. He revealed that they had stolen cash from hundials of four other temples.
