Mancherial: Five persons including a juvenile were arrested for allegedly lifting motorbikes in Mancherial, Mulugu, Peddapalli and Prof Jayashankar Bhupalpalli districts. They were produced before pressmen here on Monday.

As many as 15 bikes were recovered from them. Mancherial Inspector ML Muttilingaiah said that the lifters were Naini Srikanth, a resident of Mulugu district, Peramal Chetya Eshwar from Gopalwada in Mancherial town and a fifteen year old boy. The receivers were Thani Mahender belonging to Ashok Road in Mancherial and Botla Kiran, a native of Subbbakkapalli in Prof Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district.

On being interrogated, Srikanth, Eshwar and the teen confessed that they were stealing bikes in several parts of the four districts to lead a lavish lifestyle for quite a long time, by forming a gang. They admitted that they were lifting the vehicles parked in front of the houses at night times. The juvenile revealed that he was arrested for smuggling ganja and was released on a bail in June last.

DCP Uday Kumar Reddy commended Inspector Muttilingaiah, Sub-Inspectors Praveen Kumar, Maruti, Rajamouli Goud, constables Diwakar, Bharath and Shravan Kumar for arresting the lifters.
