Five-member gang held for online ‘Satta’ betting in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Task Force (Central) team along with the local police busted an international online ‘Satta’ betting racket and arrested five persons at Madhura Nagar on Thursday night.
The arrested persons are S Srikanth, G Satish Kumar, Tirupati , Harsha and Vinod, all from Kagaz Nagar in Kumaram Bheem-Asifabad. According to the police, the suspects are close friends and have been organising betting in online mode.
They created social media accounts and attracted punters who are habitual in online international gaming and other betting. They collect about Rs.1000 from each punter as registration amount for prediction betting numbers.
“The suspects initially lure the victims by offering them nominal profits. Subsequently, when the investment amount from victims increases, the victims started losing money, as the suspects manipulate the results,” police said.
The accused make fake videos on making good returns on investments. Following a tip-off, the police teams raided a rented apartment in Madhura Nagar and nabbed the suspects.
Officials seized various gadgets, satta and matka betting printing pamphlets, cash of Rs 1.5 lakh and 18 mobile phones.
