Five-member gang held with 23 kg ganja worth Rs 11.55 lakh in Khammam
Police arrested five persons and seized 23.10 kg of ganja worth Rs 11.55 lakh on the outskirts of Kallur in Khammam district. Two other accused are absconding, while investigators suspect the gang supplied the contraband across Telangana.

Khammam: Police apprehended a five-member gang selling ganja on the outskirts of Kallur town and seized 23.10 kg ganja worth Rs 11.55 lakh, informed Kallur ACP Vasundhara Yadav.
Kallur SI, D Haritha and her team caught Mohammad Anwar and Mohammad Wazir Khan of Paloncha in Kothagudem, Shaik Mujahid Pasha of Kallur, Devaram Rakesh of Yousufguda, Hyderabad and Mohammad Adil of Bhoiguda, Secunderabad on Wednesday while Raju and Karthik of Malkangiri, Odisha were absconding.
Mohammad Anwar used to purchase ganja at Rs 3,000 per kilogram from Raju and Karthik and sell it in Paloncha and Kothagudem. After a prior stint in jail, he began selling the contraband wholesale to Rakesh of Hyderabad at Rs 12,000 per kilogram, the ACP said.
As police surveillance intensified, he enlisted his brother-in-law, Mujahid Pasha and his paternal uncle, Wazir Khan, as partners in the trade.
They had stored ganja at Mujahid Pasha’s house at Kallur.
The ACP commended Sathupalli Rural CI Muthulingaiah, SI Haritha, head constable Narasimha Rao, constables Ranga Rao, Rafi, and Vijaykanth and driver A. Prasad for nabbing the gang.
