Hyderabad: Five players — Charvik, Aarush Rao, G. Maanya, P. Nikhil and Gowtham Nanda — shared the lead with three points each after three rounds in the 244th Brilliant Trophy Open Chess Tournament at Brilliant Grammar School, Dilsukhnagar, here on Saturday.

Sreesa Sarvana, Surya Saketh, Karthikeya Raj, Aarush Rudra, Krishna Yasaswi, Mithil Amor and M. Shourya were in second place with 2.5 points each after three rounds.


In the Open category, Akhil, Aarush Reddy, J. Ravi Varma and Varun Gopal led with three points each after three rounds.

Important results, third round:

Juniors: Charvik (3) bt Kushal (2); Surya Saketh (2.5) drew with Aarush Rudra (2.5); Aarush Rao (3) bt Kushyanth (2); G. Maanya (3) bt Anvith Kulkarni (2); P. Nikhil (3) bt M. Bharath (2).

Open category: Sricharan Tej (2) lost to Akhil (3); Siva Satyanarayana (2) lost to Aarush Reddy (3); J. Ravi Varma (3) bt Sri Samanvith (2); Varun Gopal (3) bt Srivarshini (2); T. Masood (1.5) lost to Saratkumar.
