Five SCCL Srirampur mines cross 100 percent output in April

Five underground mines in SCCL’s Srirampur Area achieved over 100 percent coal output in April, while overall production lagged behind targets due to poor performance of OCPs. Officials are taking steps to improve output and address operational challenges.

Mancherial: The SCCL Srirampur Area Chief General Manager Muniganti Srinivas said that, except for one underground mine, five underground mines achieved over 100 percent of coal production in April.

Speaking to newsmen on Saturday, he said his operational area, comprising six underground mines and two Open Cast Projects (OCPs), excavated 3.07 lakh tonnes of coal as against 5.47 lakh tonnes set for April, reflecting an achievement of 56 percent. However, the underground mines in Srirampur Area registered an overall output of 99 percent, while OCPs recorded 44 percent of coal production in April, he explained.


He said an underground mine SRP1 recorded 123 percent of output, while other mines RK NT and RK5 saw 104 percent and 102 percent of coal production in April, respectively. Similarly, SRP 3 and RK7 mines registered 100 percent of output each. However, IK1A mine posted 84 percent of the production. The OCPs situated under the area fared poorly due to issues in removal of overburden and shortage of fuel.

Steps were being taken to improve the performance of OCPs by addressing challenges of contractors and the IK1A underground mine by convening review meetings as well. He underlined the need for coordination and to chalk out an action plan to achieve monthly targets. He added that 3,828 persons got jobs under the dependent employment scheme in the area, while 9,751 employees were given medical cards.
