Davangere: In an extraordinary display of memory and observation skills, five-year-old Siya from Davangere has made it to both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. Her achievement? Identifying 74 different types of medicines and cosmetics in just 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Siya is the granddaughter of Kewash, owner of Rashmi Medicals near Shivappayya Circle. Remarkably, this is not her first record-breaking feat. At the age of three in 2023, she completed a 100-metre run in just 40 seconds, earning a place in the India Book of Records.
Born to parents Sujay and Aishwarya, who live in Malaysia, Siya has been raised there for most of her life. She recently came to Davangere to spend two months with her grandparents. During her stay, she began visiting her grandfather’s medical store, where she quickly learned to identify medicines for various ailments from pain relief tablets to gastric medicines, sprays, and balms.
Her exceptional IQ and ability to remember details impressed the Asia Book of Records, which honoured her in 2025. Initially, Siya struggled with Kannada, but within two months of staying in Karnataka, she learned to speak the language fluently.
Speaking about her daughter’s achievement, Aishwarya said, “Siya started breaking records at the age of three. Recognising medicines at this age is something rare. She learned it simply by watching her grandfather at the shop, not because we taught her. This awareness will help her understand medical uses easily in the future.”
Her grandmother Deepa expressed pride, saying, “It’s a joy to see my granddaughter achieve so much at such a young age. Watching her identify medicines just by observing at the shop makes us very proud.”
