Hyderabad: Since the commencement of special sanitation drive on October 18, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has cleared over 17,000 metric tonnes of trash accumulated at 14,500 places across the city.
Due to heavy rains, waste and garbage got accumulated at different places across the city. Following Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao’s instructions, the GHMC launched a special sanitation drive.
Among the six zones, the highest load of 9,539 metric tonnes trash was cleared in Charminar zone followed by 2,353 metric tonnes in Khairatabad zone, 2,379 metric tonnes in LB Nagar, 1,433 metric tonnes in Kukatpally zone, 1,266 metric tonnes in Serilingampally zone and 988 metric tonnes in Secunderabad zone, according to a press release.
