Hyderabad: Telangana once again got a raw deal from the BJP-led Central government in the allocation of flood relief. At the same time, the BJP-led Centre sanctioned Rs.1036 crore to Andhra Pradesh, where its NDA partner TDP is in power, and Rs.1492 crore to Maharashtra.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday released Rs. 5858.60 crore to 14 flood-affected States as a central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and an advance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Maharashtra received Rs 1,492 crore, Andhra Pradesh Rs 1,036 crore, and Assam Rs 716 crore. Other allocations include Bihar with Rs 655.60 crore and Gujarat with Rs 600 crore.

West Bengal was granted Rs 468 crore, while Telangana received Rs 416.80 crore. The Telangana government’s assessment had pegged the flood loss at over Rs.10,300 crore and had sought Rs 5,000 crore as interim relief. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had also sought Rs. 2,000 crore for undertaking immediate relief works. union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after conducting an aerial survey of the flood affected areas of the two Telugu States had announced an immediate assistance of Rs 3,448 crore to mitigate the impact of floods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
