Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Wednesday issued a flood alert for Osmansagar reservoir, one of the city’s drinking water sources.
The water level at Osmansagar is presently just a two feet away from touching the full tank level (FTL), indicating the reservoir is nearing its maximum capacity. With only a minimal rise needed, the water level is expected to reach the brim shortly.
“Due to inflows into Osmansagar, there is a high probability that the gates may be opened this afternoon to discharge floodwaters,” a warning issued by the HMWSSB said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the water board has been operating the floodgates of Himayatsagar from July 7.
