Hyderabad: In the midst of talk about HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) infections in China, the chilly overcast weather conditions accompanied with early morning fog have started to cause a steady rise in seasonal upper respiratory tract infections in Hyderabad. Nursing homes, private clinics and Basthi Dawakhanas in Hyderabad have started to witness a gradual rise in the number of walk-in patients complaining of flu-like symptoms including dry cough, body pains and fevers.

There are clear indications that viral fevers are on the rise in the last fortnight and there is a rise in chest infections too. However, all our patients are recovering normally. People should take basic precautions that are mandatory during winter, doctors in Hyderabad said.
