Mahabubabad: District Collector K Shashanka directed the officials to make all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Ganesh Navratri celebrations in four municipalities and villages in the district and ensure that the devotees follow the Covid protocol during the festivities.

Addressing a coordination meeting held here on Saturday, the Collector said that the officials should work in coordination with the festival committee and take steps for the smooth conduct of the celebrations from day one to the day of immersion. “Festival committees must take permission from the electricity and police departments to set up the pandals,” he stated, adding, precautions against contracting the Covid-19 must be explained to the people through the public address system at Ganesh pandals.

Steps for smooth conduct

He directed the municipal commissioners to hold coordination committee meetings with their staff on Monday to ensure that the Ganesh festivities are conducted in a peaceful manner and to make appropriate arrangements. “The idols can be immersed where there is no objection from the people,” he said and directed the municipal commissioners to set up control rooms and monitor the festivities from time to time.

The R&B officials were instructed to see that the bridges and roads in the middle of the road leading to immersion were repaired to avoid trouble during the procession. SP N Koti Reddy said that nearly 2,500 Ganesh idols would likely to be installed at the pandals in the district this year. Additional Collector Abhilasha Abhinav said the municipal authorities should prepare a route map and appoint in-charges to carry out lighting, sanitation and other arrangements for the immersion of the idols.

Puvvada Foundation to pay power bill for pandals

Khammam: Strict adherence to Covid protocols was a must in celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in view of the pandemic situation, suggested SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar.

Addressing a gathering of Ganesh pandal organisers at a meeting held by Stambhadri Utsav Committee here on Saturday, Kumar appealed to the organisers to ensure that the celebrations should be held in a grand and peaceful manner.

The Ganesh Chatuthi celebrations should be conducted with devotion rather than for prestige, he said and informed that Puvvada Foundation would pay the charges for electricity and loudspeakers permission for Ganesh Utsava Mandapams that obtained the membership from the Utsav Committee.

The organisers have to ensure that everyone taking part in the celebrations maintains physical distance, masking and follows other precautions to avoid spread of Covid-19, he said, adding that Mayor P Neeraja would look into the facilities the organisers needed.

He directed the organisers to take safety measures to avoid electric shock and related accidents during the celebrations. Khammam Municipal Corporation would inform the Ganesh Utsava Mandapams about immersion activities and provide all kinds of assistance for the immersion of idols, he added.

The meeting was attended by ACP (traffic) Ramoji Ramesh, three-town CI Sarvaiah, traffic CI Anjali, Corporator Raporthi Sarath Kumar, Utsav Committee convener Kannam Prasanna Krishna and others.
